New Employee Training

Required Training

The following training is essential for you to take before starting your role in the OER Design Studio. Make sure you review the section on the Studio first. The total time required to complete the training is approximately 9 hours. You will need a fanshawec.ca email address to access the training. If you do not have your email information, please reach out. We use Microsoft Outlook for email, which can be accessed at https://outlook.office.com/mail/

Step 1: Fanshawe Employee Training (2.5 hours)

Complete the following training found under the Fanshawe Learns Webpage – beginning with WHMIS. WHMIS must be completed within two weeks of hire:

  1. WHMIS Basic – Workplace Health and Safety (45min) *
  2. Health and Safety Awareness (45min)*
  3. Respect in the Workplace (45min)

Review Timesheet information (15min)

Step 2: OER Design Studio & Technology Training (2.5 hours)

  1. OER Prep Course (45min)*

Review and register for the following apps and programs. Use your Fanshawec.ca email address. You will receive an invite to Microsoft Teams. See the Resources section below for more information.

  1. Asana: You will be given an email to register (20min)*
  2. Teams: You will be given an email to register (20min)*
  3. Google Doc/Drive: Review training information (20min)*
  4. Pressbooks: Review training information (45min)*

Step 3: Accessibility and Copyright (4 hours)

Complete the following training found on the Fanshawe Learns webpage:

  1. AODA – Customer Service Standards (45min)*
  2. AODA – General Requirements (45min)*
  3. AODA – Information and Communications Standard (45min)*
  4. AODA – The Code and the AODA (45min)*
  5. Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act – FIPPA (20min)*
  6. Copyright Literacy in Ontario Colleges (45min)*
