Evaluation and Grading
Lab Evaluations:
If a student is unable to attend a lab on the day of a scheduled evaluation, the student must contact the professor PRIOR to the start of class either via email or by phone to notify them of their absence. The student must then provide their professor with a rationale as to their absence. Failure to notify faculty in advance will result in a zero grade for that evaluation
All Evaluations:
If a student is unable to complete or submit an evaluation by the due date, the student must contact the professor PRIOR the start of class either via email or by phone to notify them of their absence. The student must then provide their professor with a rationale as to their absence. Failure to notify faculty in advance will result in a zero grade for that evaluation.
Students are expected to arrive at the evaluation site on time. No student will be admitted more than 30 minutes after the evaluation has commenced, OR if any student has left the room/Lab. No student may leave within the first 30 minutes after the evaluation has commenced.
When confirmation of student identification is required for an assessment, students must provide their official photo-ID cards in full view, for review by the invigilator or proctoring platform. Students who do not have official photo-ID will be permitted to write the examination with a substitute photo-ID, but they will be required to produce photo-ID within 24 hours or the next business day following the assessment, or else the examination results will be void.
Evaluation for On-Line Learning:
Students must be logged into the required virtual platform (zoom/Teams etc.) and learning management systems (LMS) always using their own personal account. Students must receive passwords directly from faculty before accessing evaluations. A grade of zero will be earned for any student that logs in with another individual’s account and/or password or is absent from the virtual or proctoring platform. See Acceptable Information Technology Use Policy for further information.
Evaluation Extensions:
If a student cannot submit an evaluation on the due date for any reason, he/she must notify the appropriate professor at least 24 hours in advance or as soon as possible and request an extension giving reasons for the delay. If an extension is not granted, the student is expected to have the assignment completed by the specified date and time.
Under extenuating circumstances, an opportunity to complete a missed evaluation may be permitted at a date and time that will be arranged with the professor.
NOTE: There will only be one makeup evaluation per course allowed per student. Any other missed evaluation(s) will count as a zero grade.
*An extenuating circumstance is defined as those incidences which are unpredictable and or out of the students’ control.
Students agree that by taking courses, all submitted assignments may be subject to submission to Turnitin® for the purpose of verifying proper documentation of sources and borrowed material. The instructor will provide you with further details on the use of Turnitin® within this course. Note that student work submitted to Turnitin® may become part of the Turnitin® database. Students who do not wish to have their work submitted to Turnitin® must, by the end of the second week of class, communicate this in writing to the instructor and make mutually agreeable alternate arrangements
