Welcome!
At Niagara College, our collective mission is to provide students with an ‘outstanding applied education and training for a changing world’. As a faculty member, you are the vital heart and center for each student’s learning journey and experience.
As you know, a well-designed course with a dynamic curriculum is essential to engage learners that requires constant attention and careful consideration.
The process of course re-design and development is often in response to feedback, new instructional formats and approaches, and changing learner needs and contexts. Curriculum changes, whether at the course or program level, is often guided and informed by vocational and academic demands, our personal and professional belief systems, our understanding of how students learn and evidence-based curriculum principles and practices.
As a course developer — whether you are tasked with re-designing an existing course or building a brand-new course for any form of delivery (blended, on-line, or in-person) — you will find all the resources and tools you will need in this course development guide.
In the Centre for Academic Excellence at Niagara College, our team advocates for an outcomes-based approach to curriculum renewal and development that invites educators to consider the concrete knowledge, skills, and abilities that students will develop through their involvement in a particular set and sequence of educational experiences.
We invite you to reach out to our team to learn how you can get connected to additional course development resources, colleagues, services and events through the CAE.
Warmly,
Natasha and Jenn
