Welcome to my e-book, where I share the beginnings of my journey as a nursing student at Trent University. My name is Nadia Mohammed Sani, and I am the youngest of ten children from Ghana, West Africa. Growing up in a bustling household, I learned early on the importance of compassion, resilience, and the power of caring for others. These values have guided me to pursue a career in nursing, a field where I aspire to make a lasting impact, especially in the lives of those who are most vulnerable.
As I began my first year at Trent, I felt a mix of excitement and apprehension. Stepping into the world of nursing was a dream come true, but it also meant facing new challenges and responsibilities. My first term is an eye-opening experience that not only tested my academic abilities but also deepened my commitment to this calling. I have come to the realization that nursing is not just about mastering medical concepts; it’s about connecting with people, understanding their stories, and providing support when they need it the most.
In my first term journey so far, I have immersed myself in my studies and engaged with my fellow students, each of us bringing unique backgrounds and perspectives. I am inspired by the dedication of my professors and the importance of teamwork in healthcare. Whether it is through learning the fundamentals of patient care or participating in hands-on simulations, I am feeling a growing sense of purpose. Every lecture, every seminar, and every assignment among others have reinforced my belief that I am on the right path.
This e-book captures my experiences during this transformative first term, highlighting the lessons I learned, the challenges I faced, and the moments that shaped my vision as a future nurse.
