Blog Post #10 Blog Post Reflection

Reflecting on my blog posts in the context of PME Innovation in Teaching and Learning and professional and personal development from the start to the end of the course is valuable. The value comes with learning that includes academic knowledge and self-awareness. A few key takeaways include

  • Through the blog, I demonstrated a reflective engagement with existing knowledge, synthesized information from various sources, critically analyzed it, and integrated it into my posts. This re-confirmed my existing knowledge foundation and opened new knowledge gaps and perspectives. Areas such as the philosophical foundations of teaching and learning expanded my existing knowledge.
  • Through the blog activities, I connected new course content to build new perspectives on key topics. The course readings opened new perspectives. These perspectives were reflected in my blog writings and content. Areas such as the historical foundations of teaching and learning and Indigenous perspectives expanded my knowledge into new areas.
  • Key ways I have evolved during the course include considering changes I may need to make in my thinking, skills, or perspectives. This was highlighted through the work on the Personal Learning Network.

Finally, I would say that going beyond the idea of professional development, there was a transformation moment when I started my blog post and evolved it into a personal journey that I intend to maintain throughout the program and add to with other professional and personal activities as a record of me! Opening up the blog post to peers in the group and sharing personal anecdotes, struggles, and breakthroughs made me appreciate the power of authenticity.
