This was a summer school course, and with it I got really excited about international politics. While I had taken, and loved IDST in first year, that class had approached the international system from a non-state centric approach. In comparison, International Security, being part of the POST department, approached the world through a primary focus on states. Additionally, it focused on theories of security as a starting point for the course. This approach was particularly interesting to me, and I have since developed a love for state-centered conflict studies.
