International Students Co-op Work Permit

Co-op Work Permit Information for International Students

As an international student participating in a work-integrated learning activity (co-op work term, field/practicum/clinical placement, or service-learning activity) you must have a valid Co-op Work Permit issued by Immigration Refugees Citizenship Canada (IRCC) prior to going out on placement.

Students who do not submit a copy of their Co-op Work Permit application letter will not be able to begin their scheduled placement.

How to Apply for a Co-op Work Permit 

  • There is no cost to apply for Co-op Work Permit.
  • You will need a copy of your Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from Mohawk College.
  • To apply for your Co-op Work Permit, please see the IRCC webpage for application details.

Have you already applied for a Co-op Work Permit?

  • If you have already applied for your Co-op Work Permit, you do not need to re-apply.
  • Please upload a copy of your proof of application through the Co-op Work Permit webform

Have you already received a copy of a valid Co-op Work Permit? 

  • If you have already received your valid Co-op Work Permit with dates that will cover your placement, you do not need to re-apply.
  • Please upload a copy of your valid Co-op Work Permit into the Co-op Work Permit webform
