Field Placement Opportunities
Students are encouraged to complete placements in different programs to expose themselves to various experiences. Placements will be completed at different locations.
Throughout their 3 placements, students have the opportunity to choose between the following Field Placement opportunities. Field Placement Specialists will outline the specific opportunities available to students as they progress through placements.
- Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC)
Early Learning and Child Care programs support the care and early learning for children. Early Childhood Educators plan, implement, and evaluate materials, activities, and settings for children (Infant, toddler, preschool). They work to meet the needs and interests of all children.
- Before & After School Programs
School boards offer before and after school programs for students of the board who are in junior kindergarten through grade 6 where there is sufficient demand from parents and families, and a program is viable. These programs are typically offered by school boards or a licensed child care centre and run before school bell times (such as 6am to 9am) and after school bell times (such as 3pm to 6pm).
- EarlyON Child and Family Centres
EarlyON Child and Family Centres offer free programs for families and children from birth to 6 years old. Parents / Caregivers learn and play with their child(ren), meet people, and get advice from Early Childhood Education professionals.
- Kindergarten
Kindergarten is a two-year (Junior Kindergarten and Senior Kindergarten), full-day program within a school board that helps children get the best possible start in school. Children are challenged and encouraged to learn by educators (Classroom Teacher and Designated Early Childhood Educators DECE). Children are typically 4 and 5 years old.
