Roles and Responsibilities of a Field Placement Student
Activities, roles and responsibilities of a Field Placement Student include but are not limited to:
- Shadow program staff, Placement Students are not to be placed in ratio and require to be always overseen by a Field Mentor or delegate of the placement site
- Build rapport and pair with learners
- Observe and participate in skill training programs
- Develop and complete documentation and data collection as assigned
- Participate in team meetings
- Prepare and create program materials
- Maintain professional and timely communication with Field Mentors and other team members
- Establish positive and appropriate relationships with team members
- Demonstrate effective time-management skills
- Present in a professional and practical appearance
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the field placement site, it’s services and population served
- Demonstrate compliance with agencies policies and procedures
- Seek out and respond to feedback
- Initiation for their own learning needs and seek support for assignments with appropriate time for feedback and review
- Maintain confidentiality
- Assist in light tidying tasks that contribute to the functioning of their placement site as required but students are not expected to clean up feces, urine, vomit, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Field Mentors
