Chapter 12: Student Concerns
Field Placement Terminations
Students should be aware that the placement agency is not obligated to support student placements in the event that a student does not successfully complete a field placement interview or meeting, if the student is demonstrating challenges relating to professional and ethical behaviour, jeopardizing client or learner’s safety observed at any point by Field Mentors, or demonstrates continued challenges with the application of behaviour analytic principles.
Other behaviours that constitute a field placement termination include; falling asleep at the placement site during a scheduled shift, on-going behavioural concerns despite feedback provided by Field Mentors, continuous absences, failure to attend field placement
Policy Related to Advancement
Whenever the Field Placement Coordinator deems the behavioural expectations as not achievable, the student will be informed that they have failed the placement.
Whenever the Field Placement Coordinator deems the students social, employability skills or professional behaviour of the student as not acceptable, the student will be informed that they have failed the placement.
If for any student performance related issue, the field placement site requests that the placement be terminated, the student will withdraw from that placement. The student will receive a failing grade for both Field Placement and Seminar.
