Chapter 12: Student Concerns

Student Success Contracts

Success Contracts are implemented to provide students with a clear outline of the areas in which they must demonstrate growth and improvement to ensure the successful completion of Field Placement. The goal of this document is to provide students with the opportunity to achieve success. After a success contract is created with the input from the Field Mentor, the FPS will meet in collaboration with the student to discuss the background information as to why the success contract is implemented, the specific goals for the student to achieve and strategies/skill building opportunities to help them achieve these goals. Success contracts can include specific criteria for when student must achieve specific outcomes by in order to continue the remainder of placement with their placement site.

Students are aware that the placement agency is not obligated to support student placements in the event that a student does not successfully complete a field placement interview or meeting, if the student is demonstrating challenges relating to professional and ethical behaviour, jeopardizing client or learner’s safety observed at any point by Field Mentors, or demonstrates continued challenges with the application of behaviour analytic principles.

Other behaviours that constitute a field placement termination include; falling asleep at the placement site during a scheduled shift, on-going behavioural concerns despite feedback provided by Field Mentors, continuous absences, and failure to attend field placement.
