Nursing Beliefs
The following is a personal statement that outlines, what I believe to be, a nurse’s purpose. It outlines the foundations of effective care and how I feel all patients should be treated.
Belief Statement:
I believe that each patient is unique with individual needs, values, and experiences, and the care I provide should reflect this understanding. Patient-centered care prioritizes the involvement of patients in their treatment plans and plays a crucial role in improving health outcomes (Moudatsou et al., 2020). It further emphasizes that patients know themselves best, they know their needs and capacities and should therefore be active participants in their healthcare. By embodying values such as empathy, accountability, justice, and collaboration, I aim to create an environment where patients feel heard, respected, and empowered to contribute to their treatment. While the high stress and constant demands of nursing can make this challenging, I believe that by incorporating active listening, communication, and my core values, I can help foster this supportive care environment. I am committed to promoting self-advocacy and supporting patients in making informed decisions about the care they wish to receive.
