Primordial Prevention

Primordial prevention is a preventive strategy aimed at reducing or eliminating risk factors in a specified population–usually through a focus on changing or adapting social and environmental conditions. Because primordial prevention is the earliest prevention modality, it is often aimed at children to decrease as much risk exposure as possible. It targets the underlying stage of natural disease by addressing the underlying social conditions that promote disease onset (Kisling & Das, 2024).

An example includes improved outdoor recreational facilities on a reserve to promote increased physical activity which decreases risk factors for CVD/S, obesity and many other health issues.
