Introduction to H5P

This module will provide you with fast fundamentals of H5P – what it is, how to create it, and why you might want to incorporate it into your teaching.

What is H5P?

H5P is a free, open-source, easy-to-use, yet powerful content collaboration framework which enables anyone – from novice web users to pro programmers – with the ability to create interactive learning activities and content on the web. It works as a plug-in for web-based platforms such as WordPress, Pressbooks (where it is natively integrated) and learning management systems such as D2L Brightspace (Avenue to Learn).

H5P stands for HTML5 Package – but don’t be intimidated by that technical term. While HTML5 is the latest version of the coding language used to build and display web content (e.g., websites and videos). The good news is that while HTML5 gives us the power to easily create engaging, interactive, and multimedia-rich content (e.g., videos, quizzes, and games) you don’t need to know how to code!

The best way to learn about H5P is to explore and experience the content yourself. Let’s get started!
