7 Existing OER initiatives at McMaster

  • Open Educational Resources Grant Program
    • OER grant funding for instructors, generously funded through the Office of the Provost and Vice-President (Academic), McMaster University Libraries, the McMaster Students Union, and the MacPherson Institute.
    • The program supports the use of OER to benefit teaching and learning by enhancing equal access to and discoverability of learning resources and contributing to student cost savings.
  • McMaster OER Committee
    • The goal of the Committee is to raise understanding and awareness of the advantages of using OER across the McMaster community.
  • Student OER Advocates 
    • Develop and implement strategies for communicating about and advocating for textbook affordability and open educational resources across the McMaster community.
  •  Student Partners Program (OER Stream)
    • The SPP provides any undergraduate and graduate students with paid opportunities to participate as partners with faculty, instructors and staff on projects that contribute to the enhancement of teaching and learning at McMaster.
  • OER Finding Service
    • A service created by McMaster Libraries for McMaster instructors who are interested in discovering what open educational resources are available for the courses that they teach. This service is designed to help increase awareness of existing OER that have been created and may be useful in McMaster courses.
  • OER by Discipline Guide
    • An Open Education reference of OER listed by subject area and disciplines with McMaster academic programming.
  • Open Education Week Activities, including webinars and workshops
    • An annual, week-long event that aims to raise awareness, showcase initiatives and highlight open education efforts in teaching and learning worldwide
