10 Writing an Abstract for Conference Participation

Much like writing an abstract for a paper, writing an abstract to submit to a conference requires you to synthesize and summarize your work, giving the reader – here a reviewer for the conference – a “taste” of work to come. Some conferences may require structured abstracts that use a predetermined format while others may just provide a word count; in either case, be sure to include information about your research question, your methods, and your main findings.
