My Philosophy and Beliefs of Nursing
Nurses are essential to the healthcare team, providing direct patient care and spending more time with patients than any other healthcare professional. Nurses are compassionate and empathetic individuals, addressing not only a patient’s primary diagnosis but also focusing on the holistic aspects of care, including their physical, emotional, and psychological well-being. They are often the first line of communication between the patient and the rest of the healthcare team, advocating for the patient’s needs and ensuring their voices are heard throughout the care process. Due to my strong belief in caring for others, I chose nursing to make a meaningful impact in people’s lives during some of their most vulnerable moments. I see nursing as an opportunity to not only provide care, but to create genuine connections with patients, offering them a sense of comfort, trust, and security when they need it most. Being there for my patients, listening to their concerns, and advocating for their needs are central to the kind of nurse I strive to be. Being a nurse requires a strong commitment to lifelong learning and adaptability, as healthcare is constantly evolving. The ever-changing nature of nursing keeps me engaged, as I am constantly faced with new challenges, scenarios, and opportunities for growth. For me, it’s not just about the clinical components of care, but about making a difference in the lives of those I care for, while continuously challenging myself to be the best nurse I can be.
