My Personal Values

Accountability: The ability to take responsibility for your actions, decisions, and the outcomes of the care you provide. Accountability is crucial in nursing because it is directly tied to the quality of patient care, patient safety, and professional integrity. By holding myself accountable, I build trust with my patients, colleagues, and the healthcare team, ensuring that I provide the best care possible and uphold the CNOs professional standards (Kenton, 2022).

Collaboration: As a nurse, and nursing student I understand that effective patient care requires teamwork. Collaboration with other healthcare professionals, patients, and families is essential for holistic care and achieving optimal outcomes. I value open communication, respect for diverse perspectives, and working together to achieve shared goals.

Autonomy: The ability to make independent decisions, guided by knowledge, experience, and ethical principles. In my nursing practice, autonomy allows me to assess patient needs, make clinical decisions, and advocate for the best possible care for my patient. Autonomy also involves the respect for others’ right to make their own decisions, both in healthcare and in life, ensuring that I act in the best interest of those I care for while respecting their independence and choices without personal biases.

Continuing Competence: Represents the commitment to ongoing professional growth, learning, and maintaining the skills and knowledge necessary to provide high quality care. As a nurse and nursing student, I recognize that healthcare is constantly evolving, and I am committed to staying informed and up to date with policies and best practices guidelines to provide the best care possible (CNO, 2021).
