Belief Statement

Nurses have a great responsibility to care for the public. This is a privilege and service that ought to be carried out with the highest level of care, intention, and reflection. As a nursing student, I believe that embodying respect, compassion, collaboration and accountability in my practice is vital to uphold holistic, patient-centered care. Nurses respect the unique experiences and needs of each patient without judgement or discrimination. Nurses are compassionate, looking beyond behaviours to understand patients’ perspectives and struggles to inform appropriate care. They collaborate with patients and other health care professionals to create comprehensive, individualized care plans. Nurses hold themselves accountable for their actions, continually reflecting on areas for improvement to promote safe and ethical care.
