The Structure of the GSJ Program

Gender & Social Justice is an interdisciplinary program in the Faculty of Humanities at McMaster. The label interdisciplinary is used in two senses. First, in the general sense, the methods and modes of scholarship that we use in the GSJ program are drawn from many different academic disciplines.

Second, in the structural sense within the university, the GSJ program does not reside in a single department. The faculty who teach in GSJ come from many different home departments in Humanities, and the faculty who supervise and read MRPs are drawn from all Faculties across the university.

While the program is housed within the Faculty of Humanities, the regulations that govern the MA and the Graduate Diploma (PhD) are set by McMaster’s School of Graduate Studies.
