Foundations of Human Anatomy

Hey! Welcome!

The MacAnatomy Open Education Resource (OER), is a publicly-accessible resource for all students interested in anatomy. We’re so glad you’re here! While leaning anatomy can be a tough pursuit, it is an enriching experience––permanently colouring how you look at the body and life in general. This stuff sticks with you!

Fun fact: this resource is built by and designed for students.

Being the first of its kind (a peer-driven anatomy OER), it is also an active research project. We want to hear your feedback! Was this helpful? Do you have recommendations? We want to know!

For readers from the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University, this text is designed to give you a primer before delving into your Medical Foundations (MF) manuals and learning materials.

This project is supported by the MacPherson Institute OER 2024 Creation Grant.

Navigating this text:

Before embarking on your anatomy learning journey, this section will give you a quick summary on how to navigate this manual.

This manual contains an array of images, interactive activities, and plugins to some of our favourite anatomical resources. When viewing the interactive activities and plugins, we recommend viewing them in full screen. This option is available on the top right corner of each activity/plugin.

Want to get to the next chapter without scrolling back up to the menu bar? It gets annoying––we know! Click the “next chapter” button on the bottom right corner of your screen. It’s on a navy blue bar.
