My Future: My Goals after 1LD0
Overall, my goal is to carry out my leadership vision in the future leadership positions I will experience. I do have some specific goals that I would like to pursue particularly from my LDP and in general.
~ Goals From My LDP ~
I want to be better at trusting people that I work with in group situations, and be comfortable relying on others when working in group settings. This is something I have always struggled with, and I know it is very important for a leader to trust their teammates, so I will continually work towards letting go of my need for control and have a closer connection to people I work with. Perhaps over time would make me trust them more and be able to rely on them.
I also will work towards not putting too much pressure on myself to do well and not so perfectionistic, but strive for growth and learning rather than doing something perfect from the beginning. Shifting my mindset from only seeing failure as a bad thing, I will try to focus on improvement and progress. Small steps will be important, and being kinder to myself will allow me to be more understanding and realistic.
In general, my goal is to not be so hard on myself, and be patient with myself and my own progress because we all have our journeys that we go through at our own pace. We will get to our desired points only when we are truly ready for it.
~ General Goals ~
In general, I want to try and get more involved in my future years here at McMaster, joining more clubs and possibly applying to be an executive member in a club. I hope to learn and get more experience that will help me in the future in the workforce. I also want to try and get into a show for the McMaster Musical Theatre club! I’ve tried before, and I won’t stop trying until I get it. Anything that makes you learn more about yourself and what you can do to improve is wonderful experience, not just for yourself but in your future endeavors too!
