An Introduction To My Nursing Journey
Lauren Dimitrovski
Hello! My name is Lauren Dimitrovski, and I am extremely excited to begin this journey into the nursing profession. Growing up in a family full of people who care for others, I have always felt a strong urge to do the same. Nursing is a way to make a difference in people’s lives while offering both the care and support they need during some of their most vulnerable moments.
my Journey into nursing as a profession
Nursing is not only about medical knowledge and skills but also about connecting with others. It is about being there for someone when they are facing difficult moments, such as helping them process a diagnosis or simply offering comfort.
I have seen firsthand how small acts of kindness can change someone’s entire day. I have also witnessed how a nurse’s presence can help calm the commotion during stressful times in the hospital or other facilities. My path to nursing was influenced by many things, but the main one was a family friend who is a nurse in the emergency room. I was inspired by the way she not only treated her patients with nursing skills but also with compassion through managing pain and easing fears in ways that left a lasting impression on me. Her ability to show empathy and emotional intelligence in such high-pressure situations made me realize that these qualities are extremely powerful in healthcare, and they inspired me to make a similar impact on others.
I have been the type of person to dive deep into things that interest me. Throughout the last few years, I have spent time studying (human) biology, healthcare systems, as well as chemistry, which has helped me develop a strong foundation in science. However, it is not only about the science, but it is about being present in the moment. It is about meeting people and offering care to patients’ bodies, minds, and spirits. I have learned about the most important traits of nursing and how nursing lies as an unspoken connection between both patient and nurse.
Ultimately, I am excited to take this step through my learning journey, along with both the hard work and dedication that nursing requires. I hope to use my experiences in this program to advocate for those who may not have easy access to care and to make healthcare more accessible to all. I am honoured to be starting this nursing journey and I look forward to learning and developing as a nurse.
