Philosophy of Nursing Statement

According to Sarah Bush Lincoln (2024), we, as professional nurses, are exceptional advocates, team members and nursing practice leaders. We create a safe, healing environment and embrace a culture of teamwork, professionalism and nursing excellence.

Being a nurse means emphasizing patient-centred care, treating the patient as a whole, and creating a strong healthcare environment. Nurses who have a clear philosophy of nursing prioritize compassion, integrity, respect, and especially communication amongst both patients and the healthcare team. This philosophy shapes how nurses interact and make decisions, while consistently reflecting on how to improve their practices, ultimately leading to positive patient outcomes. Through nursing, I can make a meaningful impact on individuals and their families, offering support in challenging times. This means using my core values and utilizing both knowledge and skills to treat, assess, and even educate patients. I am dedicated to maintaining a high standard of professional ethics and am excited to continue learning and growing in this field. Ultimately, nursing allows me to develop both professionally and personally, and it inspires me to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
