Integrity
Integrity is about being honest, following your principles and doing the right thing. It is about being trustworthy and consistent in your actions, whether working with others or working alone. From a nursing perspective, showing integrity toward patients is essential to building nurse-patient relationships. For instance, involving ethical standards in practice while delivering care can provide benefits that are in the best interest of the patient. Demonstrating honesty and accountability allows patients to feel more confident in my care, therefore leading to better cooperation between myself and patients. It builds a connection between both nurses and patients and ensures that care is always given ethically and with respect. Gaining trust between patients includes maintaining patient confidentiality while providing accurate information to provide a positive healthcare experience.
