This one-year post-grad program is designed to leverage your existing post-secondary education in marketing with a specialization in the area of sports and event management and with functional knowledge to enhance skills in core areas, including professional and amateur sports organizations, minor sports associations, private and public sports facilities, not-for-profit groups, telecommunications companies and other sports-related businesses. This program is also available part-time.
Unique Program Experiences
Live Client Projects
In this program, students will complete live client project-based work throughout their first two semesters when in class, which will include performing market research and completing integrated marketing plans. Job skills for the future that are largely utilized throughout these semesters include social intelligence, novel and adaptive thinking, implementation skills and resilience. In the level 3 culminating semester, students will embark on a field placement where the emphasis will be on experiential learning and utilization of the essential job skills the program highlights as conducive to industry success.
Toolkit
Students will experience the use of a vast array of technology throughout their time in the Sport & Event Marketing program. Beginning with Google Analytics in Level 1, students will be challenged with exploring website structure and design in a systematic way, analyzing data and completing projects that propose strategic incremental gains. Various social media platforms are utilized throughout the program, allowing students to embark on an expansive deep dive into the strategic value of personal brand growth and career path utilization.
Student Experience
Clubs – FMA
The Fanshawe Marketing Association is a student-run organization that exists for the benefit of Fanshawe College marketing students. The Fanshawe Marketing Association aims to bridge the college marketing student experience to the professional field of marketing. Plans are developed through the Association to support students’ professional development and help them cultivate strong networks. This Association provides many networking opportunities through the integration and implementation of social and academic events, giving students an opportunity to connect with fellow students, faculty, alumni, and industry professionals.
Events – Prime Time Sports Management Conference
Optionally attended by students each year, the PrimeTime Sports Management Conference and Trade Show in Toronto is a great way to get involved and engaged in the industry while learning about a wide array of experiences and becoming further educated in the sport and event industry. Students are provided the opportunity to gain leading-edge industry strategies while at the same time cultivating relationships through industry circles. Opportunities are present for students to participate and compete in the Case Study Competition as hosted by the PrimeTime Sports Management Conference & Trade Show.

Graduates of Fanshawe’s Sport and Event Marketing program will find a wide range of exciting career opportunities such as marketing officer, social media and digital marketing co-ordinator, brand ambassador, public relations manager, athletics facilities and events officer, director of branding and communications, manager of game-day operations, manager of ticketing & client services, special events coordinator, manager of corporate partnerships and manager of marketing and sponsorship. - Field Marketing Specialist: Implement a regional sports and culture marketing plan while maintaining effective budget management.
