Artifact #1 Description
My first artifact is my offer of admission into the nursing program. This artifact is significant since it represents the start of my nursing journey. This artifact means a lot to me since it was also the first step in getting on the correct path for me and my goals. Since I started in a different program, admission to this program represented a shift in my career path and a major change in my plans for the future. After receiving this offer of admission, I finally felt like I was going in the right direction and working toward my goals of being a great nurse.

Artifact #2 Description
My second artifact is the birth of my brother, Evan. My brother is seven years younger than me, and therefore, I was old enough to remember him being born. I remember going to the hospital with my grandparents and going into the NICU for the first time to see my brother. I remember that he was lying in an incubator since he was born a month prematurely. I have memories of the nurses checking on him and helping feed him, give him his necessary shots, and slowly but surely increase his strength. It was this experience at the young age of seven that initially got me interested in nursing. I could see the impact the nurses were having and how important each aspect of care was to my brother. This is what inspired me and what initiated my goal to become a NICU nurse.

Artifact #3 Description:
My third artifact is my physiology textbook. In my first semester of university, in the teacher education program, I often thought about how I missed taking biology classes. By the second semester, I decided I would take a physiology course. The physiology course recommended that we complete anatomy before taking the class. Unfortunately, I had not taken anatomy in the first semester, so I decided I would take on the challenge and attempt physiology with no prior anatomy knowledge. Although taking this course was a very big challenge since it often involved doing double the amount of reading from the textbook to get context on what we were learning, I worked incredibly hard and proved to myself that I could do it. In the end, I finished physiology with a good mark and a growing interest in the human body and health. Completing this course not only allowed me to prove to myself that I was capable even when things were difficult, but it also re-sparked my interest in the field of nursing and healthcare in general. Taking this course pushed me in the direction of applying for the nursing program and, therefore, ultimately led me to where I am now.
