This course has been instrumental in equipping me with both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to deliver nursing care to medical/surgical and newborn/pediatric patients. Through engaging in simulated case scenarios, case studies, and hands-on practice, I’ve been able to reinforce my learning effectively. The integration of humanistic caring, reflective practice, and therapeutic use of self throughout the course has greatly influenced my approach to nursing.

I’ve gained a clear understanding of my role as a Practical Nursing Student, ensuring I adhere to my scope of practice while considering my individual competence and the context of care. Safety and efficiency have been paramount as I’ve learned to use various nursing equipment accurately in both lab and clinical settings.

Infection control has been another critical focus. I’ve applied strict practices, such as hand hygiene and aseptic techniques, which are essential in maintaining patient safety. Additionally, I’ve developed a range of therapeutic communication techniques to effectively convey health teaching to simulated clients, their families, and fellow health care providers.

Utilizing the nursing process has been a significant part of my training. I’ve learned to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate care for simulated clients throughout their continuum of care. This comprehensive approach has helped me integrate physical, psychological, socio-cultural, spiritual, and developmental assessment skills, ensuring holistic care.

Lastly, I’ve been encouraged to demonstrate professionalism, critical thinking, and leadership in my practice. This course has helped me hone my organizational skills, enabling me to provide well-rounded care to simulated clients. Overall, the knowledge and skills I’ve acquired will greatly enhance my effectiveness as a future nurse.
