NRSG246-Nursing Skill Labs I

This course provided me with the theory and practical skills necessary to deliver nursing care in long-term care environments. It featured simulated patient care situations, case studies, and hands-on applications of specific nursing skills, all grounded in key theoretical approaches such as humanistic caring, reflective practice, and the therapeutic use of self.

By the end of the course, I consistently exhibited professional conduct during laboratory sessions, adhering to dress code, maintaining a positive attitude, and fostering good relationships with classmates, faculty, and staff. I learned to obtain informed consent from clients before performing each simulated skill in the lab.

I demonstrated safe and effective performance of all nursing skills, while also describing and using equipment and technology in the lab setting safely and efficiently. My critical thinking and problem-solving skills were enhanced as I applied the Nursing Process—Assess, Diagnose, Plan, Implement, and Evaluate—to provide nursing care.

I understood my role and responsibilities as a Practical Nursing student in the lab, classroom, and various clinical settings. Additionally, I developed effective organizational, accountability, and leadership skills while caring for simulated clients throughout the course.

Finally, I demonstrated individualized health teaching techniques tailored to the unique needs of different simulated clients. This course equipped me with the practical experience and skills required for my future nursing career in long-term care settings.
