This course provided me with essential theoretical concepts necessary for delivering nursing care to clients in various settings. It utilized case studies and group discussions as key learning tools, integrating themes of humanistic caring, reflective practice, and the therapeutic use of self throughout the curriculum.
By the end of the course, I was able to apply foundational nursing knowledge related to healthcare concepts such as safety, infection control, hygiene, nutrition, skin care, urinary and bowel elimination, stress management, client education, and self-concept. I also gained a basic understanding of the structure of the current Canadian healthcare system and examined trends that could influence future nursing practice.
Additionally, I explored how social and lifestyle factors affect health. I analyzed client information to develop nursing care plans that incorporate best practices, focusing on a beginner level of proficiency. I also learned about appropriate nursing interventions tailored to various age groups experiencing changes in health and well-being.
This course equipped me with a solid grounding in nursing care concepts, preparing me for practical applications in my future practice.
