Comm 201-Communications 1

Communications I served as an introductory course that laid the foundation for college-level communication skills. I learned to read critically, write effectively for diverse audiences, conduct research, and properly cite sources while revising my work for clarity and correctness.

In seminars and labs, I engaged in both independent and collaborative activities, including the creation of a digital portfolio aimed at enhancing my communication abilities in academic and professional contexts. Throughout the course, I developed strategies for approaching reading and writing assignments that emphasized the rhetorical nature of communication.

I analyzed the needs of real audiences to craft effective messages and participated in peer review, recognizing communication as a social act. The course also allowed me to explore various writing forms and formats, enhancing my ability to communicate effectively across different mediums.

I learned to view writing as an iterative and complex process, employing strategies that facilitated this approach. Additionally, I utilized technology to support my communication efforts and applied basic principles of credibility in my research and documentation practices. Overall, this course equipped me with essential skills to become a more effective communicator.
