Accessibility
The infographic I chose is on the website of the institute that made it. It uses simple wording, visual representation, and straight-to-the-point sentences to get its information across in an accessible and easy-to-grasp way. Its purpose is to introduce the public and let them know what practical nursing is all about, in this way aiming directly at people who may be interested in the profession but are unsure of what it is all about. The way the information is organized, and the choice of words used makes it accessible. This infographic does not use words that someone who has never had any experience in the profession would struggle to understand like subcutaneous, intramuscular, or ferrous; making the information easy to understand and as result accessible as well.
Coherence
Every visual included in the infographic matches the information and helps enhance understanding by giving the reader a picture in mind of what the information looks like. The visuals in the infographic act like a bow on a gift, or a cherry on top of a cake; they complete and complement the information that has been shared in the infographic to make it even more coherent than it already is.
Retention
The infographic altogether shares information and uses visuals to make everything more creative, memorable, and engaging. Having visuals in the infographic allows the mind to create a picture in the head making it easier to retain information associated with that picture. In addition to that, because it is an infographic it can be printed and carried around this accessible method of carrying information will allow the audience to read the information on more than one occasion, this in turn helps promote sharing of information as well as retention.
