| I am reflecting on my experiencing mixing medication and inserting it in a IV bag while making as little puncture as possible and keeping the needle sterile. As well as my experience removing an IV.

| I would say I found the experience to be a valuable, educating and interesting. My nurse for the day was the one who guided me through the all procedure showing me what to do and letting me practice for myself. Although I felt a little nervous as I did not want to do any mistakes I also was excited to get to practice such a skill. My nurse was very supportive the whole time I mixed and drawed medication using a syringe a needle and I was not sure she would simply show me for me to then get the opportunity to practice confidently. I got to practice keeping the needle sterile through the whole process, following guideline practices to aoid puncturing myself and carefully insert medication in an IV bag while puncturing it as little as possible. After I practiced I felt grateful to have been able to practice such a skill and learn from a nurse in the job how it is done.
Even practicing removing an IV in the presence of my clinical instructor I found to be a valuable, educating and interesting experience. I practiced the skill while following instructions from my clinical instructor after having being able to watch her do it. |

| The way nurse showed me and encouraged me while practicing the skill helped make this xperience a good one by allowing me to feel more comfortable to perform the skill. This experience was also interesting as I got to practice first hand the mixing of medication while keeping the needle sterile and making sure the right amount of medication is taken. This reflection helped me learn that there are multiple experience that I will have that will help me grow as a student and future nurse and that a lot of the things that I am learning as a student I will one day have to apply to my job, making it important I am able to learn the skill necessary and gain enough practice to perform them confidently. As a result, I believe that this experience was valuable for the very reasons that the reflection helped me learn.
My clinical instructor watched me as got the necessary materials and began the process, giving me little reminders as I proceeded. She watched me remove the tape and gave me tips on how to do it in the least painful way for the patient, advised on how to fold the gauze that will be used to cover the site of IV injection. I was able to practice a skill on an actual patient giving me the confidence to be able to practice the skill on my own making the experience valuable. |

| I think I was able to work effectively by observing my nurse and following instructions given. As a result I was able to re-inforce my learning on medication mixinig and reconstitution as well as practice keeping a needle sterile.
Having my clinical instruct guide methorugh the process of removing an IV gave me the ability and comfort to work effectively and re-enforce the skill of removing an IV that was learnt in my lab class |
| Looking forward- NEW LEARNING NEED & GOAL |
| The skill of reconstituting medication and removing IV, are things that as a future nurse will be important for me to know as they are learning that I will most likely end up pracincing in my future career and therefore are things that will help me improve in my practice. Knowing how to reconstitute medication will allow me to avoid medication errors and provide the right disage (one of the 10 rights) to my patient and knowing how to properly remove an IV will allow me to help patients avoid injuries caused by IV needles. Since this skills are important it is necessary for me to be able to practice them efficiently with and without the guidance of a nurse or clinical instructor.
NEW learning need I will be able to confidently perform the skill of reconstituting medication and removing IV efficiently with and without a nurse or clinical instructior guidance by April 21st 2023. I will do this by watching practice videos, practicing during clinical and reading my textbook. |
