SMART Goals

SMART goals are goals I as a nursing student set to help assure I am continuing competency as part of the quality assurance program, as mandatory per the CNO.

SMART goals are goals set by an individual that are:

  • Specific: a specific goal as per the CNO is detailed and describing exactly what you want to achieve.
  • Measurable: a measurable goal is ability to show you results of what you learned.
  • Attainable: an attainable goal is something that can be reached.
  • Relevant: a relevant goal relates directly to your nursing practice.
  • Time-limited: a time-limited goal has a specific timeframe to be completed in.

My SMART goals going into semester two:

  1.  My short term goal is to obtain a certificate related to paediatric nursing within my second semester between the dates of January 1st 2025-February 28th 2025. To gain more knowledge and confidence when caring for the paediatric population.
  2.  My long term goal is to grow my ability to time manage successfully between my       school and work schedule in semester two from January 1st 2025-April 30th 2025. To balance the work load and meet deadline criteria.
