In nursing, my core beliefs are maintaining integrity, respecting my patients, and leading a compassionate nursing career. I strongly believe in treating each patient specifically to their needs by practicing Watson’s theory of human caring (Potter et al., 2019), healing patients with a holistic view: Emotionally, physically, and spiritually. I believe nursing is the right career for me because of my motivation to care for others when they need it the most. Nursing is both an art and a science, and I am passionate about using my skills to help others. The impact I hope to make in my patients’ lives is to make them feel loved, cared for, and contribute to their recovery journey. I strongly believe in advocating for others, supporting every person’s decisions, and helping build their autonomy and sense of self. Nursing school has prepared me for my future in the clinical setting by teaching me valuable knowledge, skills, and judgment that will be applied to each patient and colleague interaction.
