PSYC 1030H: Introduction to Psychology Part 2
Reflection:
There isn’t much to say about this course that is terribly different from my first semester introductory psychology course. I can appreciate the base knowledge that is needed to further pursue, understand and study in the field of psychology – but boy was I ever prepped to never hear about Erikson, Skinner and Freud again.
My two introductory psychology courses positioned me to understand and succeed in psychology academia but didn’t spark joy in the way I had originally hoped. I held some fear that perhaps I had switched into this program and it may not be what I really wanted. Nevertheless, I decided to stick it out. It was the only class my reading technique was active – I was highlighting, note taking and critically considering the reading content in ways I did not do with other classes. Although still very general content, I was still interested enough to take a more active role in my learning. I knew my second year I would be able to take more directed courses, and was hopeful that I would find the part of psychology that filled my cup.
