Welcome All!

My name is Jessica and I am currently attending Trent University in the Bachelors of Science of Nursing Program. Within my pressbook you will find information about myself, my nursing journey and current career, what values and beliefs I hold, as well as my future goals and aspirations.

I live in Peterborough, ON and currently work at Peterborough Regional Health Centre as a Registered Practical Nurse within the Float Pool. I successfully completed the Practical Nursing Program and graduated in June 2024. Nursing however, was not my first career. In my past life, I obtained a Advance Business Diploma at Sir Sandford Fleming College. From there I worked as a successful Marketing Coordinator at Swish and a store manager at Peoples Jewelers. I absolutely adored my positions, however, I am not a fan of complacency and Business was never my first choice. When Covid hit the world, I was able to take some time to really look at where I was and what I truly wanted my life to look like. I then applied for the PN course at Fleming College and was accepted fairly quickly- this shocked me! I had always wanted to be a nurse, but never had the self confidence or supports to pursuit it.

This journey will be long and as I advance my skills, knowledge and judgment everything might change! That’s one of the best things about this career in my opinion, everything might change. Science advances, education continues, medical dynamics shift… everything has the potential to change and nothing is “still”, long enough for complacency. Healthcare is forever evolving and I am so exciting to be a part of this world.
