Accessible H5P Content
As an interactive resource, this OER makes use of a variety of formats of H5P activities. The majority of H5P activity formats have been made compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA standards by the H5P team. A full list of H5P content types with accessibility information can be found on the H5P website: Content types recommendations – H5P [New Tab].
Known Accessibility Issues
Please note that in this resource, all formats of H5Ps used have been reported to be accessible, with the following exceptions:
- Dictation – these exercises cannot be made fully accessible, as providing alt text would reveal the answers; students may still listen to the audio in these exercises to benefit from the listening practice and/or write the answers offline.
- Drag and Drop without visible labels – as a visual exercise, these activities are not fully accessible when the drop zone label cannot be shown to avoid revealing the answer. Background images in these activities also do not currently have a field for providing alternative text.
- Find the Hotspot – as a visual exercise, this exercise is not currently listed as accessible by the H5P team.
- Image Sequencing – as a visual exercise, this exercise is not currently listed as accessible by the H5P team.
- Speak the Words – this exercise is not currently listed as accessible by the H5P team.
- Find the Words – this exercise may pose challenges to users who are not able to see the wordsearch area.
