My journey so far…
My name is Ingrid Grajnar Ptok, and I am a first-year Compressed Nursing student here at Trent University. My whole life I knew that I wanted a career where I could make a positive impact on people’s lives. When applying for university in 2019, I thought the best way to reach and help people was through teaching – shaping the minds of the future. So, I started my educational journey by attending Laurentian University for two degrees: Sports and Physical Education and Concurrent Education. After completing a few placements in teaching, while I loved the personal interaction with students, I realized that I wanted more. In my fourth year, I completed an internship as a part of my undergraduate degree at a Physiotherapy clinic, where I shadowed a physiotherapist and taught a movement class for older adults. I got to interact and build relationships with so many unique patients and see how the physiotherapist was able to help so many individuals in so many ways. After this, I knew patient care was for me, but I also knew I wanted it on an even deeper level. This is why I chose nursing; for my passion for the health sciences, but also my passion for creating those relationships with patients and helping them during times when they need that support the most. I am truly looking forward to the journey this program brings me on, and the future doors it will open.
