You have taken time to consider alternative points of view, gained an understanding of the goals of the project, and grown in your knowledge of Indigenous histories, methodologies and practices. This information will help you to navigate the space you inhabit and the work that you contribute to.

However, more importantly, it will help you to continue to grow and learn within your professional and personal life outside of the project. As you move through this year, take the time to continually check-in and reflect on the work you are doing, and why you are doing it.

Remember to ask questions and be understanding and open to perspectives that are different than your own. Only when we take the time to evaluate our own beliefs and actions, and are inclusive and responsive to those of other people, can we truly create change within the academic and professional spheres, and begin to walk the path towards reconciliation.
