Post-Contact History of the Land of this Project
Treaties and Land Negotiations
When thinking about Indigenous histories on the land that is now Canada, it is important to think of the settler-Indigenous relationships on the land which we live and work upon. The lands of the Indigenous Workways project expand throughout many regions within Canada. However, these lands can be focused primarily within two regions, the Waterloo Region, and Windsor-Essex. Take some time to learn about the history of these lands post European contact, and how this impacts the Indigenous Workways project in the present day.
Waterloo Region
Take some time to explore the history of the land in the Waterloo Region, and the modern day treaties and ongoing negotiations concerning this land.
Windsor Region
Take some time to explore the following tabs outlining the post-contact history of the land which the University of Windsor, and the entire Windsor region are situated.
You have now learned the basics of the histories, treaty processes, and ongoing negotiations on the land that the Indigenous Workways project is situated. Take some time to reflect on this information before moving on to the next section of this module.
