Recognizing biases in technology is a crucial step towards creating inclusive and accessible technological solutions. By identifying technoableism in practice, we can challenge and change the underlying assumptions that exclude individuals with disabilities. This process not only promotes equity but also drives a better definition of “innovation” by ensuring technologies are designed to meet the needs of a diverse user base.

The examples and case studies discussed illustrate how biases can manifest in various technologies, from facial recognition software to health apps, leading to exclusion and disadvantage for certain groups of users. By analyzing these biases and understanding their impact, we can take proactive steps to mitigate them and promote more inclusive design practices.
