Overview

This book is intended to support individuals in finding diverse and inclusive images and illustrations. Many of the collections shared in this book focus on a specific area of diversity, while some may include multiple different categories of diversity in one collection.

Licensing

The licensing details are different for each collection. Simpler licensing information (i.e., if a collection is licensed under a Creative Commons license) have been included in this book, along to their Licensing and/or Terms of Use page(s). For collections with longer or more nuanced licensing information, their Licensing and/or Terms of Use page(s) have been linked for you to review.

Please note that licensing information is subject to change, and updates may not be immediately reflected in this Pressbook. The most updated version of the licensing information will always be available on the collection’s website.

Attribution

The collections in this book vary as to whether attribution/credit is required, and how it should be provided. Where possible, the attribution information is listed along with each collection in the book for easy access.

In some cases, attribution is not required; however, it is encouraged! In these cases, we would encourage you to provide attribution to support the photographers, artists, and/or designers who are providing us with this valuable content!

Collections

The collections that are referenced in this book are separated into 2 categories: Free Inclusive Media and Paid Inclusive Media.

Free Inclusive Media

The collections within this category are free! Most are licensed under a variety of Creative Commons (CC) licenses. Please take note of the specific license that each collection uses, as there are various restrictions on your responsibility in attributing, editing, and distributing the image.

Paid Inclusive Media

The collections within this category generally require some type of fee. This could be a per-media fee, where you pay for each piece of content that you want to use, or a subscription fee, where you pay monthly/quarterly/annually for access to a larger media database. Paid assets often provide a Royalty-Free license; however, always read the License and/or Terms of Use page(s) to best understand your responsibility in attributing, editing, distributing, and storing the image.
