Introduction

What is biomimicry?

Now that we have an idea as to why we are learning about biomimicry… what EXACTLY is it? What does nature have to do with engineering design problems?

What isn’t biomimicry?

As important as it is to understand what biomimicry is, it is equally important to understand what it isn’t. Biomimicry is a form of bioinspired design, but not all bioinspired designs are biomimetic. I know there are a lot of “bio” terms out there, so let’s understand what some of them mean and the differences between them.
