Fall Field Placement Roles
Role of the Placement Supervisor
- Orient student to facility and department
- Assign/schedule rotation to schedule to meet outlined goals and objectives
- Collect input regarding the student’s performance from relevant sources and other staff
- Complete student evaluation; a final evaluation by the end of the 14th day, (Final evaluation fillable form can be found in this manual)
- Please ensure that you have a discussion with the students regarding their evaluation and provide a copy to the student so they can submit accordingly and Fall Field Placement grade can be calculated
- To be available to discuss student progress
- Responsible for the direct/indirect supervision of the student during the placement experience
- Contact Faculty Advisor to discuss concerns/problems with student performance
Role of the Student
- Attendance is mandatory
- Report absence to Placement Supervisor and Faculty Advisor prior
- Arrange pre-placement communication with the assigned Placement Supervisor to:
- Arrange a start time and where to report for first day
- Discuss the rotation schedule with placement organization
- Provide an opportunity for the student to meet the Placement Supervisor and locate the
facility site - Provide required medical clearance, uniform requirements, facility identification and
orientation
- Complete placement course work assigned by Faculty Advisor
- Complete assignments arranged by Placement Supervisor
- Communicate, collaborate and work cooperatively and professionally with employees at the placement site
- Demonstrate safe, accountable, reliable performance in practice to meet placement
competencies - Seek and accept direction, feedback, clarification and supervision appropriately
- Arrange and be responsible for travel arrangements and costs
- Provide copy of resume to Placement Supervisor
Role of the Faculty Advisor
- Coordinate field placement with School of Community Health Studies (SCHS) Placement Planner
- Discuss with students the expectations and results of student’s self evaluation prior to
placement - Discuss student progress
- Evaluate assigned course work given by Faculty Advisor
- Assist with situations requiring conflict resolution or intervention related to student performance
