Program Learning Resources and Facilities
Labs
In light of the current context and in a bid to prevent a potential second wave of COVID-19 impacting Ontario, Centennial College will, for the most part, continue to teach at a distance and online. It is hoped, however, that courses with significant hands-on activity and requiring in-house instruction will be scheduled on our campuses in strict accordance with Public Health protocols.
PROTECTIVE / SAFETY EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS
All students are required to wear appropriate safety equipment during lab activities – such as coveralls, Safety Boots, Safety Glasses & ear protection (as required).
Students who do not have or wear the required safety equipment are not allowed in the labs & will be marked absent. NO EXCEPTIONS.
There may be limited access to Centennial’s computers and specialty labs. For your health and safety, follow any posted protocols (e.g., physical distancing, cleaning, etc.).
Equipment
The Heavy Equipment labs are equipped with specialty tools and equipment that requires specific training to use or operate. Students are not allowed to use or operate any equipment in the labs without prior training, and your professors permission. This includes starting of any engines either stationary or mobile, drill presses, hand drills and grinders, hydraulic jacks and stands, hydraulic presses, overhead cranes, mobile lifts and lift trucks.
Software
Students have access to industry-leading software packages and bundles that can be found in rooms, labs, and podiums across our campuses. Computers at each campus will be loaded with the applications for use in your courses. To access these features, you must log in to the network using your student number. You can see a comprehensive list of software and software packages installed by room and by campus here.
Digital Resources
All digital resources will be listed in your course outlines and posted on the LMS ecentennial.
Library Collections
Instructors may make course readings available online through the eReserves service in eCentennial or as physical items that can be borrowed from a campus library on short-term loan. If your instructor is using eReserves, you will see a module in the course content on eCentennial. The list may include links to library resources like databases, articles, and eBooks; book chapters; web links; and open educational resources. Check your course outline or contact your instructor for information about where your assigned course readings are located.
