7.4 – Emerging NAP Therapy
An emerging form of treatment for Alzheimer’s disease features the use of the NAPVSIPQ (NAP) peptide. Recent papers have analyzed its effectiveness for in-vitro model systems, such as that of the neuroblastoma cell line (SH-SY5Y). This chapter will explain NAP therapy in detail and then highlight a recent study which examined its effects in-vitro. Additionally, future applications of NAP therapy for Alzheimer’s disease and beyond will be analyzed.
In this chapter you will learn about:
- What NAP therapy is and how it can potentially provide neuroprotection
- Prior research which has explored the effects of NAP treatment in-vivo
- Future directions for NAP therapy on Alzheimer’s disease as well as well as additional applications
