Artifacts

1.

An artifact that I’ve included is a picture of a travel nurse. After finishing my degree and passing my NCLEX exam I hope to travel the world while working as a nurse. A travel nurse is a health care professional who works in a different location from where they live. Travel nurses can work in clinics, hospitals, or other facilities usually temporarily in high need areas. My dream is to be a travel nurse because I get to do what I love helping people and seeing the world.

2.

I recently purchased my first stethoscope and it is the instrument I’m most looking forward to using when I start my clinicals. A stethoscope listens to the different sounds that are generated within your lungs, heart, and intestinal tract. This instrument detects sounds produced in the patient’s body. Many ailments can be determined by using a stethoscope. A nurse can hear abnormal sounds like crackling in the lungs, a fast pulse, or a heart murmur.

 3.

These are photos of my BLS certificate that I recently completed. These artifacts are important to me as I will be using them to potentially one day to save someone’s life. They taught me how to properly do cpr on a patient whether it be an adult or a child. They also taught me how to work as a team in a coding situation. I learned a lot from getting this certification and I will continue to improve my skill throughout my nursing journey.

4.

This is my N95 mask fit testing card showing that I was successful in fitting for a mask to protect me in my work environment. It is a very important part of my journey because it is a stepping stone that all nurses have to go through before starting clinical. This mask will help to stop the spread of diseases and is very common to wear in most hospital environments. This mask will provide better protection amongst the most vulnerable patients and I look forward to wearing it in order to keep my patients safe.
