Program Description
This is a unique post-graduate program that focuses on the dollars and sense in the Film and Television Business.
There are many programs that focus on the in-studio and in-field creation or the study of and critique of media arts, but the Business of Film and Television program focuses strictly on the business skills, practices, and knowledge required in managing a film, television and screen production. This program covers the gamut of what it takes to finance, run, and distribute a production both domestically and in the global market.
The first semester focuses on the basics of the production business, entertainment law, sources of funding including tax credits, and managing the finances. Students also take a practical production course, consider the contemporary screen media landscape and sharpen their professional profile.
The second semester builds on the first semester and expands on entertainment law, alternate financing, rights management and international partnerships. Students are required to do a field placement that should help kickstart their careers and resume.
This program is designed to equip its graduates with skills to work in a screen media company – as part of the production staff, business affairs, legal, programming, development, rights management and distribution departments.
This course will not only show you the money, but keep the money too.
