Artifacts

The section below contains a collection of artifacts that have shaped my decision to pursue a career in nursing. Each one has played a role in guiding me toward a future in healthcare.

MY NANA

My nana is my inspiration. Growing up, I was very close to both my nana and papa, but my nana’s influence on my life is something I hold especially dear. She worked as a nurse for 30 years, and it was her example that inspired me to choose nursing as a career. From a young age, I admired her compassion and dedication, and I feel fortunate to have had the chance to see her in action. I often went to work with her, where I saw firsthand the kind of nurse I want to become. She treated every patient with kindness and understanding, making them feel truly valued. My Nana always made an effort to connect with her patients, learning about their lives and building relationships that went far beyond the physical care she provided. Witnessing her ability to combine skill, compassion, and genuine care left a lasting impression on me. It inspired me to follow in her footsteps and strive to be the best nurse I can be.

Acceptance Letter

Last year, I was at Georgian College, where I took the Pre-Health program. While applying to nursing schools, I submitted six applications and was accepted to all of them. However, Trent was my top choice, and I had yet to be accepted. I was about to accept my second choice when something told me to check my email one last time. That’s when I saw my acceptance to Trent. I was overwhelmed with happiness and pride, knowing all my hard work had finally paid off. Transitioning to nursing school was a big change, but it has been such a rewarding experience. I feel proud of how far I’ve come and am excited to continue this journey toward achieving my dream of becoming a nurse.

CPR

This certificate shows off the important skills I have developed by completing the BSL CPR course. Before starting, I felt a little nervous, as I had only participated in an emergency life-saving training program once before. However, this course has provided me with crucial knowledge and techniques that will be invaluable throughout my nursing career. As nurses, we will inevitably encounter high-pressure situations that require quick thinking and decisive action, and this training has given me the confidence to face such challenges. It has prepared me to be able to respond fast and properly in emergencies, whether in a clinical setting or out in the community.

Trent Nursing Uniform

My Trent nursing uniform and stethoscope represent the professionalism and responsibility of being a nursing student. It reminds me of the commitment and hard work I have put in to get to where I am today. Wearing it makes me feel proud and excited to be able to learn such valuable skills and information, it makes me truly excited to be able to one day contribute to the healthcare field and to know that I will be part of a much larger team dedicated to improving patient outcomes. Though I have yet to learn how to use my stethoscope, I know that it will be a big tool in my everyday life as a nursing student and nurse. It represents my readiness to listen to my patients and to understand their own individual needs, which is an essential part of providing quality care. Together, this uniform and stethoscope represent my hard work and growth as a person, and it shows my ongoing journey toward becoming a skilled, compassionate nurse who is dedicated to making a positive impact on the patients I care for. This holds a deep meaning for me as it reminds me of the responsibilities I will soon carry.
